Position Overview:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for ensuring that Coral Vita’s Freeport Coral Farm operates as a well-organised, efficient and disciplined facility. This position is ideal for an operations or logistics professional who thrives on structure, teamwork and achieving measurable results. The AGM will support the Farm Manager by overseeing day-to-day activities, coordinating personnel and resources, maintaining operational systems and ensuring key performance metrics are met. Coral or Aquaculture experience is not required. Leadership, organisation and commitment to high operational standards matter most.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
- Direct and coordinate daily farm operations to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Implement and maintain clear operational systems, workflows and communication channels.
- Oversee logistics including supply chain coordination, inventory control and equipment readiness.
- Monitor compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.
- Support documentation, reporting and recordkeeping to ensure accountability and transparency.
Team & Staff Management:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team with a focus on professionalism, discipline and accountability.
- Manage staff scheduling, task delegation and performance monitoring.
- Reinforce consistent work standards and positive team culture.
- Assist in onboarding, training and professional development for new and existing staff.
Performance & KPI Oversight:
- Track and report on operational KPIs to ensure production, maintenance and quality goals are achieved.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency.
- Work closely with the Farm Manager to review performance data and support strategic decision making.
Logistics & Administration:
- Support procurement and budget management processes, ensuring timely supply of materials and accurate financial tracking.
- Coordinate with external vendors, contractors and partners for operational needs.
- Assist with project planning, reporting and resource management.
Process Improvement:
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and team productivity.
- Support the implementation of structured systems for scheduling, maintenance and reporting.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in management, business, environmental science or related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in an operational, logistics or team management role.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with proven ability to manage people and systems.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Comfortable working in hands-on, field-based environments.
Preferred:
- Experience managing operations in agriculture, aquaculture, construction, hospitality or similar sectors.
- Familiarity with project management tools and reporting systems.
- Interest in sustainability, environmental work or marine conservation.
- Experience working in remote or island-based settings.
