Coral Vita's Sam Teicher Honored by BBC Alongside Prince William

We’re incredibly proud to share that our Chief Reef Officer, Sam Teicher, has been featured by the BBC alongside Prince William in recognition of Coral Vita’s groundbreaking achievements in coral restoration. This prestigious coverage highlights our historic win as the inaugural recipient of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize in the “Revive Our Oceans” category.

Sam, alongside co-founder Gator Halpern, has been recognized for developing revolutionary coral farming techniques that grow corals up to 50 times faster than in nature using specially designed land-based tanks. This innovative approach represents a transformative breakthrough in the fight to save the world’s dying coral reefs.

The recognition gained even more significance when Prince William and Princess Catherine visited our coral farm in the Bahamas, where they personally participated in coral planting activities with Sam. The royal couple was so engaged that they “didn’t want to stop planting corals” and were amazed by the crystal-clear waters and restoration progress.

With the £1 million Earthshot Prize, we’re scaling our mission to establish a global network of coral farms, with the ambitious goal of growing billions of corals annually. This BBC feature underscores how our work is creating hope for the future of marine ecosystems worldwide.
