We’re excited to share that Coral Vita was featured in Business Insider for sponsoring and headlining “Currents,” an innovative day-to-night gathering during NYC Climate Week that brought together climate leaders, artists, Indigenous elders, and community members to celebrate ocean protection and regeneration.
Held at the heart of Manhattan during Climate Week, the event united environmental entrepreneurs, youth activists, storytellers, and diverse communities to explore collective action for protecting our planet’s waters. The gathering featured technology showcases, panel discussions, immersive installations, and live performances designed to inspire deeper connection and co-creation around ocean conservation.
The timing is critical: half of the world’s coral reefs have already disappeared, with 90% at risk of vanishing by 2050. Yet Coral Vita’s work demonstrates that large-scale recovery is possible through the combination of innovative science and commercial viability.
“This gathering brought together everyone who feels called to nature and systemic change,” said Sam Teicher, co-founder and Chief Reef Officer of Coral Vita. “By uplifting the intersection of science, art, and community, Currents creates space for the transformative dialogue we need to build a thriving ocean future.”
Since 2021, Coral Vita has cultivated over 100,000 corals across 52 species in The Bahamas, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, achieving strong survivorship rates and doubling fish populations in restored areas.
